Merry Christmas Everybody
A Christmas Story
I went on a Christmas mission to the hardware store with my brother this afternoon. It had snowed a great deal in the several days before my arrival in Milwaukee the night before, and the streets were stacked with drifts.
I told my brother the story about how, five years ago walking back from a double date, a girlfriend had poured less than a handful of snow down the back of my shirt.

A major problem with current “political analysis” is that there’s no need to analyze something that’s obvious to everyone. American national politics is a vulgar, transparent, and stupid drama. You can read a few news wires regularly and understand every major politician’s short- and long-term intentions. This is why most of our Wonkette posts are composed...

College Humor’s Minesweeper: The Movie
A live-action recreation of the Goldeneye N64 video game.
This one isn’t funny, but it uses 120 frames per second to shoot skateboarders at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, which is where I skated during my year abroad.

It should surprise no one that “The Dead” is available online at any time.
It’s pretty sweet how Joyce compresses the song into a relatively small space, waits through the cab ride, and then explodes it in the final pages. By the time the reader reaches Gretta’s explanation, so much has happened that it’s easy to have forgotten the little ditty.

Here is something from Hazel Dickens. (Once again, embed not apparent on the feed. One day you will all have to learn to trust me.)
We Won't Lift a Finger
Yesterday I was very disappointed to find that, as far as I can tell, no one has uploaded “Fire in the Hole,” sung by Hazel Dickens for the motion picture Matewan. But at least I found this eponymous nugget from a little band called Ann Beretta.
(There is a Seeqpod embed that doesn’t appear to show up in the feed. It is on the actual page, however.)
